YMCA of Central Kentucky

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my membership card if I sign up online?

On your first visit to your Y please stop at the Member Service Desk and you will receive a welcome packet, take your membership photo and receive your id card.

Are there any additional charges?

There are over 200 drop in group exercise classes that are free and included in your membership, but there is an additional charge for youth swim and sports programs, leagues, and specialty programs such as Pilates and Personal Training.

What if I just want to take a class?

You do not have to be a member of the Y to take most of our fee based classes.  However, as a program participant (non member) you will pay a higher rate for the class.

Does the Y offer financial assistance?

The YMCA has a program called Open Doors which awards financial assistance to people who cannot afford a membership or take classes. Money is raised through our annual support campaign each year. Those interested must submit documentation of gross household income and a sliding scale is used based on income and number in the family. Applications should be sent to the business manager for review. You may access the Open Doors form here.

Can I use any YMCA?

If you join the C.M. Gatton Beaumont YMCA or the Whitaker Family YMCA at Hamburg Place, you receive citywide access to all YMCA of Central Kentucky locations.
If you choose a branch exclusive membership (access to the High Street YMCA and North Lexington Family YMCA) you cannot access the C.M. Gatton Beaumont YMCA or Whitaker Family YMCA locations.

I'd like a trial membership.

We don't offer trial memberships. You are welcome to come in and take a tour and receive a free guest pass.

What if I want to cancel my membership after I've joined?

If you are set up on a monthly draft: You can stop by the Member Service desk and complete a cancellation form or do it from the membership tab on our website.  You must give a 15-day written notice (cancellation form in person or online website form) prior to the draft date that you picked for your monthly dues.

If you paid for your membership in full for the year: You can stop by the Member Service desk and complete a cancellation form or do it from the membership tab on our website.  A prorated refund will be mailed to you from our association office.
