Before and Afterschool Programs
Nurturing the potential of every child
Our program transforms the hours before and after school into a time of opportunity for school-age students:
- Promoting holistic health – Our curriculum emphasizes healthy living in every aspect of our program, from
the snacks we serve to activities and games we organize.
- Locally-based – We provide our program to students at a variety of schools and YMCA locations, working with educators to benefit as many families as possible.
- Learning outside the classroom – Students at all our schools have space to complete their homework and
work with qualified YMCA staff—when they need academic help.
- A safe space for all – As part of the YMCA, we mobilize our region’s leading force for good to create a safe,
nurturing environment for school-age children, regardless of their ability to pay.
The YMCA of Central Kentucky offers school age child care programs for children in grades K - 5 and middle school (5-13) at 13 sites in Fayette County including two YMCA facility locations. Our programs provide care for your child with valuable social and scholastic skills in a safe, fun, and supervised environment. Programs include homework help, healthy snacks, enrichment activities in art, science and math, and physical activity. YMCA facility programs offer sports and swim lessons throughout the year as an option.
An enrichment program focusing on homework support, physical activity and the arts is offered at the High Street YMCA for two hours each afternoon (Leestown also offers a Before School Enrichment Program from 7:15-8:30 a.m.).
And, don't forget about our Out of School Days program, when school's out, the Y is in! Join us during school holidays, snow days and in-service days for fun games and activities that are a sure way to keep kids having fun and learning along the way. They will have the opportunity to make new friends and engage in indoor and outdoor activities in a safe, positive environment.
Please visit the links below and remember, your registration is complete when you fill out all registration and financial assistance forms and turn them into your local Y. They can be mailed to or dropped off at any local branch.
