  • 10,000 square foot Wellness Center: 98 pieces of premium cardio, strength and free-weight equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bikes, stair climbers and more

General Facility Information

Q: Where is the new Y located?
A: The new Y is located in Hamburg near the Hamburg Pavilion off Sir Barton Way. The address is 2681 Old Rosebud Road, Lexington, KY 40509.

Q: When will the new Y open?
A: The new Y will open Oct. 31, 2016.

Q: What are the operational hours of the facility?
A: Our hours of operation (beginning Oct. 31) will be:
Monday-Friday, 5:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturday, 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Sunday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Q: Will there be free WiFi?
A: Yes. There will be free WiFi throughout the facility. 

Q: Will there be towel service?
A: Not at this time.

Q: Will there be separate adult and family locker rooms?
A: Yes. There will be adult locker rooms as well as express changing rooms and family locker rooms with fully accessible changing tables and access to the Aquatic Complex.

Q: Can I rent a locker?
A: Lockers will be available throughout the facility, including in the locker rooms, for daily use only. Please bring your own lock.

Q: What type of fitness equipment will the new Y have?
A: 58 pieces of cardio equipment including Cybex® treadmills, Cybex® ARC Trainers, Cybex® SpARC, Precor® Ellipticals, Matrix StepMills & Steppers, Concept Rowers, Matrix Spinning Bikes. 34 pieces of Cybex® Eagle and Prestige strength equipment to include multiple circuits, plate loaded pieces and free weights.

Q: Will there be a gymnasium?
A: Yes. The new Y will have a gymnasium for pick-up basketball, sports leagues and more.

Q: Is there going to be a indoor track?
A: The track will be located on the second floor with three lanes and a view overlooking the gymnasium.

Q: What are the parking options for the new Y?
A: The Whitaker Family YMCA will have plenty of paved parking spots for members and guests.

Membership

Q: What if I can’t afford a membership?
A:
The Y offers financial assistance to those unable to pay membership costs. No one is denied membership because of  inability to pay. It’s an important part of our mission. Email membership@ymcacky.org or call 859-543-9622 for details.

Q: What’s included in membership?
A: Your YMCA of Central Kentucky membership includes all the following:

  • Access to all YMCA of Central Kentucky facilities

  • Drop-in child care while you use the Y

  • Free new member fitness orientation

  • 300+ free group exercise classes offered each week across all locations

  • Priority registration and reduced fees for all programs

  • A.W.A.Y. member privileges and statewide reciprocity to use other Ys

Q: I have a SilverSneakers® or Silver & Fit benefit. Can I use this benefit at this Y?
A:
Yes, the new Y will offer SilverSneakers® and Silver & Fit membership benefits.

Q: If I am a member at another YMCA separate of the YMCA of Central Kentucky, can I use the new Whitaker Family YMCA?
A:
Absolutely! Your membership can be used at any Y in Kentucky, in fact! Simply present your active YMCA membership card and photo ID at any participating YMCA in Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati and enjoy free access. The Reciprocal Membership Program is valid for YMCA full facility/full privilege members only.

Q: I have some co-workers who are interested in joining. Is there a group or corporate discount available?
A: Yes. A minimum amount of employees is required. Please email us for more information.

Programs and Classes 

Q: What type of programs will the new Y offer?
A:
Youth and Adult Sports, Youth and Adult Swim Lessons, Pilates Reformer, Personal and Small Group Training and much more.

Q: Do I need to be a member to participate in programs offered at the new Y?
A: Members and non-members can participate in programs. There are benefits of membership, which provides reduced program prices.

Q: What type of free group exercise classes will be offered?
A: Mat Pilates, Boot Camp, Zumba®, Step, R.I.P.P.E.D., Body Pump, PiYo®, Vinyasa Flow, Indoor Cycling, TRX®, Personal  Kickboxing, Insanity®, Kettlebell, Water Exercise and more!

Q: What type of specialized fitness training options will be available?
A: We will be debuting a 3,000-square-foot performance and functional training room that will allow for a variety of body  weight exercises, as well as the use of many functional training accessories such as resistance bands, suspension  trainers, medicine balls, training ropes and more. This room will be available for personal training, small group training,  sports specific training and youth fitness camps/clinics for an additional fee.

Q: What will the new Y offer for seniors?
A: Seniors can participate in any of our land and water classes as well as the senior specific classes that we offer such as Gentle Yoga, SilverSneakers® Circuit, SilverSneakers® Classic and more.

Q: Do you offer child care while I use the Y?
A: Absolutely! Child Watch is available while you are on-site for children ages 6 weeks – 9 years old for up to two hours per day. The Y will also offer after school and out of school day programs for youth. 

Aquatic Complex and Splash Pad

Q: What will the Aquatic Complex feature? 
A: The Aquatic Complex will be located inside the facility. There will be a 25-yard lap pool, a recreational warm water pool with spray features and two slides, and a spa area that includes a sauna, steam room and whirlpool.

Q: What will the Splash Pad feature?
A: The Splash Pad will be an interactive, zero-depth water park designed for all ages. Splash Pad activities will include spraying, splashing, dumping and walk-through features. There also will be comfortable seating and tables for families and individuals to use during the warmer months while enjoying the outdoor space.

Q: Will you offer water fitness classes?
A: Absolutely! We will offer a variety of swimming and water aerobics for the whole family to enjoy.

Q: Will you have a swim team?
A: Not at this time. If you are interested in joining a YMCA swim team, please contact our C.M. Gatton Beaumont YMCA or our North Lexington Family YMCA. We will offer a variety of swim lessons for all ages.
